Goal: Identify action verbs and the verb ‘be’, and build sentences with subject + verb.

A verb is a doing word (run, eat, work) or a being word (am, is, are). Every sentence needs one. The basic English sentence is subject + verb (+ object): “I eat rice.” Verbs change with time (eat → ate) and with he/she/it (eat → eats).

3Common mistakes

I student.
I am a student. — never drop the be verb
She eat rice.
She eats rice.
