Is / am / are
Is, am and are are the three present forms of the verb “be”.
1What is it?
Is, am and are are the three present forms of the verb “be”. They say who someone is, what something is, where it is, or how someone feels.
2Why do we use it?
Almost every first sentence in English uses one of these: I am a student. She is a doctor. We are from Kerala. Without them you cannot introduce yourself.
3The simple rule
I → am · he / she / it (and any one person or thing) → is · you / we / they (and more than one) → are.
