Articles: a, an, the
A, an and the are the small words before a noun.
1What is it?
A, an and the are the small words before a noun. A / an = any one (not specific). The = a specific one that both people know.
2Why do we use it?
Malayalam has no articles, so this is the most common small mistake for Kerala learners. Getting it right makes your English sound instantly cleaner.
3The simple rule
A before a consonant sound (a book). An before a vowel sound (an apple, an hour). The when the listener knows which one. No article for general plurals and uncountables (I like music).
