From Uttar Pradesh, she played volleyball at national level.

In 2011 she was pushed from a moving train during a robbery attempt and lost her left leg below the knee.
The turning point
During recovery she decided to take up mountaineering and trained with support from Bachendri Pal.
The journey
She reached the summit of Everest in 2013, two years after her injury.
The impact
She went on to climb other high peaks and received the Padma Shri.
