Show who owns what using my/your/his/her/our/their and ’s.

Goal: Show who owns what using my/your/his/her/our/their and ’s.

Possessive adjectives go before a noun: my, your, his, her, its, our, their — “my phone, her bag”. For a person’s name, add ’s: “Ravi’s car”, “my mother’s house”. Possessive pronouns stand alone: mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs — “This bag is mine.”

This is my book.
That is Anu’s bike.name + ’s
Their house is big.

Whose phone is this? It’s mine.

3Common mistakes

This is the book of Ravi.
This is Ravi’s book. — use ’s for people
Its raining. / The dog wagged it’s tail.
It’s raining. / its tail — it’s = it is; its = belonging to it
This is me book.
This is my book.
