Goal: Recognise nouns as naming words and use them in simple sentences.

A noun is a naming word. It names a person (teacher), a place (Kochi), a thing (phone) or an idea (love). Most sentences are built around a noun: who or what we are talking about. Names of specific people and places start with a capital letter: Arun, Kerala, Monday.

3Common mistakes

I live in kochi.
I live in Kochi. — place names take a capital letter.
She has a beautiful.
She has a beautiful house. — an adjective needs a noun.
