Why do we have day and night?
1Read
The Sun does not move around the Earth. The Earth spins, like a top, once every 24 hours.
Half of the Earth always faces the Sun. That half has daytime. The other half faces away into dark space. That half has night.
As the Earth spins, your town slowly turns from the dark side to the light side — that is sunrise. Later it turns away again — that is sunset.
The Earth spins towards the east. That is why the Sun seems to rise in the east and set in the west, and why Kerala sees the Sun before Dubai does.
