Mia and the Missing Kite
When Mia’s kite disappears, she learns that asking for help isn’t giving up — it’s smart.
Ages 6–8 · 8 pages · Lesson: Asking for helpMia loved flying her red kite in the park. It was the best kite in town, with a long, swishing tail.
One windy afternoon, a strong gust pulled the string right out of Mia's hands! The kite sailed higher and higher, and then... it was gone.
Mia felt tears in her eyes. "My kite! I'll never find it now," she sighed, looking at the empty sky.
Her friend Sam ran over. "Don't worry, Mia. Let's look for it together. Two sets of eyes are better than one!"
They searched near the big oak tree, behind the swings, and along the fence. No kite anywhere.
Suddenly, a squirrel chattered loudly from a tall tree. Mia looked up — and there was her kite, caught gently in the branches!
A kind gardener nearby had a long pole. "Let me help," he said, and carefully lifted the kite down.
Mia hugged her kite tight. "Thank you both so much!" She learned that asking for help isn't giving up — it's smart!
When something feels too hard to do alone, asking for help is one of the smartest things you can do.
Talk about it
Ask your child: What happened first? Who was kind? What would you do? Then let them retell the story in their own words.
