A woodcutter was cutting a tree by the river. His axe slipped and fell into the water.

“Oh no! That was my only axe,” he said, and he sat down and cried.

A river fairy came up. “Why are you crying?” He told her.

She dived in and came back with a golden axe. “Is this yours?” “No,” he said.

She brought a silver axe. “Is this yours?” “No,” he said again.

She brought his old iron axe. “Yes! That one is mine!”

“You are honest,” said the fairy. “Keep all three axes.” And he went home happy.

Honesty is always the best choice — even when nobody is watching.
